Master Bedroom Decor Haul

I have decided on a dark purple/plum colour scheme for the master bedroom.  In my head the style I am aiming for is 'luxury hotel'.

Over time (approx 1 year) I have been gathering all the bits required to decorate and style the room.

I picked up this gold bed set and cushion in the Next sale, both were less than half price.  The wallpaper you can see in the background is plum with thin gold stripes it is called Evita in Damson from Graham and Brown.

Gold dragonfly wall decorations had 70% off in Debenhams so only cost £5.40.

The cushions are 'Jeff Banks' and cost £6 each from my local Ponden Mill store.  The curtains (no pic i'm afraid), although not the same brand are the same colour and similar material and were also from Ponden Mill, they were £86 originally but reduced to £25 in the sale.  Bargain!

These gold heart plaques have a mock croc design on them and they were a Christmas present from my parents.  They are from Next and cost £15.

For a spot of luxury we have 300 thread count Sheridan Essentials cream striped sheet (£19.99) and pillow cases (£9.99) at the ready from Home Sense.  They feel super soft, I cannot wait to experience that hotel feeling at home.

Hopefully it all comes together when complete. Check back soon to find out!

What I Ate Wednesday No.6

This was what I ate on Saturday...

Breakfast: Porridge with strawberries & a drizzle of golden syrup.  With a cup of tea.

Lunch: Mozzarella, tomato & pesto panini with a few tortilla chips from a lovely local cafe.  With a pot of Clipper tea.

Dinner: Pizza Express Pomodoro Pesto (santos tomatoes, basil, pesto, baby mozarella & garlic oil).  Also pictured is my partners Etna (spicy n'duja sausage, speck ham with gran Moravia cheese (no peppers)) in case you were wondering!

We shared chocolate fudge cake with ice cream for dessert.

Master Bedroom Redecoration Progress Vol.1

The master bedroom has been left until last in our house as it needed the most work. We also weren't 100% sure what we wanted to do with it.  Now we have a plan we are starting to make progress.

When we purchased the house it had a toilet and sink squashed into 1 corner, so kind of half an en suite as it did not have a shower.  We considered making it into a proper en suite by adding a shower but it did not leave a huge amount of space for furniture to hold all my clothes.  So in the end we ripped the old toilet and plastic sink out and knocked down the partition walls.
BEFORE: Plastic sink
BEFORE: Toilet

AFTER: Loo & sink removed

The room then stayed like this with exposed pipes for longer than I care to admit!

Upon removing the wallpaper we discovered the walls were in an awful state and every wall needed re-plastering.  Not a cost we were expecting and we now need to get some plasterers in for quotes.

Missing Plaster
Poor condition wall

My partner and I are not competent DIYers so we have to rely on family for helping out with tasks such as taking the old toilet pipes out.

The painting is where we will be able to get stuck in, that can begin once the plasterer has been and the plaster has fully dried out.  We may need a hand with the wallpaper though as neither of us have done wallpapering before.
The carpet is worn and flat so that and the underlay also needs replacing.  So as you can tell there is lots to be done.

Stayed tuned for the next installment...

Homeware Haul - Aug 14

I thought I would share with you all a mini-homeware Haul.  So without further ado....

Meet 'Hedgy' the garden planter! I purchased him less than half price in the Next sale.  The tag says it is frost proof so I am hoping it will last a long time.  I am thinking of getting a red cordyline or a small Japanese Maple (aka Acer) to go in it.

I adore this wooden bunting but cost just £4 from Next. I have not decided where it is going to go as yet.  Im sure I will find somewhere! It is reversible.

Here is a pic of 1 side...
...and here is a pic of the other polka dot side..

I also picked up a wooden garden lantern for less than half price. The lilac candle is from Home Sense and only cost £2.

Lastly I purchased a sea/sailing themed candle holder with an anchor on from Tesco.  I am aiming for a beach theme in the garden and thought this could look great on the garden dining table to complete the look.

What I Ate Wednesday No.5 - Birthday Special

This is a special What I Ate Wednesday as it was my Birthday!

Harvester unlimited breakfast; poached egg, 2 soya & leek sausages, flat mushrooms, cubed pototes, tomato & beans.

You are also allowed unlimited access to the continental breakfast (toast, fruit, cereals, yogurt etc.).  All this for just £4.99 (not available at all Harvesters)!

The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the mini pancakes, they aren't much bigger than a £2 coin (see top right of below picture), are cold and taste horrible with a funny texture.  I am such a pancake lover normally but these were not nice at all.  I was given a feedback form at the end of the meal so I let them know the pancakes require vast improvement.  Also, there were no muffins (as per the menu) available on this occasion.  Overall though I would recommend.

I had unlimited tea & juice with it for £2.25.  Coffee was also included in the deal.

Vegetarian Breakfast

Dinner: The brunch kept me filled up for ages. In afternoon I had a cuppa & chocolate Birthday cake.
Then ended up just having a toasted tea cake with jam.  Followed by more tea & Birthday cake.

Well if you can't eat what you want on your Birthday when can you!
