The Christmas Tag 2015

1. What is your favourite Christmas film?
Throughout my childhood it was Miracle on 34th Street.  Nowadays it's probably Elf.

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Not that I recall, would be pretty magical though.  Definitely won't happen this year with the average of 12c we have been getting this December.

3. Where do you usually spend your Christmas? Christmas Day is usually at my parents house with my partner.  Boxing Day is at his parents house for buffet.

4. What is your favourite Christmas song?
This year the song that keeps sticking in my head is Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarkson.

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve? No, I don't receive them until Christmas day.

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner & Blitzen. Plus Rudolph if he counts!

7. What is your favourite Christmas make-up and nail art look? Wear the same basic make up all year round.  Don't do nail art but like to paint my nails festive colours , they are currently gold!

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake? It is fake and a little worse for wear.  I wouldn't mind giving a real tree a try but worry for the sake of my cream carpet!

9. What is your all-time favourite Christmas food/sweet treat? Oooh a tough call...Erm...chocolate yule log!  Also, love buffet food.

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
An equal measure of both seems fair to me ;-)

11. What is at the top of your Christmas wish-list this year?
A happy Christmas with my family and partner.

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?  I wouldn't mind being in NYC or a lodge in Lapland with a real fire.

13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?  Pro-present wrapper, I quite enjoy it.  It's better than card writing!

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Nah I don't make any as I won't stick to them.  I like to make 'plans' of things to do that year so I've stuff to look forward to though.

17. What makes Christmas special for you?
All the extra time you get to spend with family, the log burner burning away at my Mum's and yummy Christmas food with "Its Christmas!" as an excuse to eat it all!

I tag anyone reading this to get involved and share some festive cheer! Pop a link in the comments if you do so I can have a read.

Hi all

Here is a round up of what I have been loving wearing, what I have been up to and what I have enjoyed eating recently.

I have been living in chelsea boots lately.  This is my tan pair which were only £25 from Dorothy Perkins and I love them!

As its been such a mild Autumn so far this thin polo neck (from Next) has had a lot of use and for cooler days I have added a vest top underneath.

The shoes and polo neck both go nicely with my tartan scarf which I wear with my navy quilted Joules coat.

I had set myself a deadline of 30th November to have all my Christmas shopping done and I have accomplished it so that is a great weight off my mind.  I shared some of my Christmas shopping tips in a separate blog post here.  The wrapping has all been done too!

I am currently re-reading Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan.  I love this book and the festive recipes inside are a Bruce bonus.  It is making me feel all Christmassy.

Whilst my partner and I were shopping in Cabot Circus, Bristol we stopped off at Five Guys for lunch.  My partner had been wanting to go there for ages as we have enjoyed trips to the Florida and New York Five Guys restaurants and we finally got around to it.  In the UK it is pretty pricey for what it is but we had great fun reminiscing about USA holidays whilst we were in there.  The portion size of fries is really good, we shared a small portion and still struggled to eat them all.  We even treated ourselves to a vanilla and caramel thick shake, a naughty but nice treat.

There have also been a fair few festive treats going down the hatch such as this shortbread snowman. Mmm mmm!

Hope you are all enjoying the final month of 2015!

What I Ate Wednesday No.57

Double Chocolate porridge - Oat So simple porridge with a spoonful of milk chocolate spread and dark chocolate chips sprinkled on top.  Cup of tea.

Homed american style pancakes with a variety of toppings - I have not photographed each one as I far too busy stuffing my face.  However the toppings platter on the picture includes apple sauce, lemon juice, strawberry jam, chocolate spread, peanut butter, sugar and maple syrup!  I shared my American Style Pancakes recipe here.  Drink = water.

Pea and Italian style cheese risotto.  I was surprised at how well this risotto turned out, the first time I tried making it it was a bit of a nightmare and took ages.  This went to plan though and tasted so good, will definitely be making this again soon.  The recipe called for parmesan cheese however that is not vegetarian (due to pig rennet) so I opted for Sainsburys Italian style cheese.  Drink = Water.

Next Christmas Wishlist

Hi everyone

After perusing the Next website I have put together a little Christmas Wishlist which I am going to share with you in this blog post.

First up is this Christmas tree, it looks beautifully bushy and I adore the snow tipped edges.  After a fair few years of use our current tree is looking a little sparse and worse for wear so I think we will need a new one and this one fits the bill perfectly.

I have been on the look out for a huge wall clock for some time now and I have finally found it!  It is a whopping 93cm and it would take pride of place in my living room above the TV.

If you are a regular reader on my blog you may already be aware that I LOVE dogs.  When I spotted these cute doggy and Christmas themed pj's I just knew that I have to have them.

Lastly I really like this wave rug, I have it in mind for my living room, in front of the sofa.  I am a big fan on Next rugs as they are always thick and great quality.  I like the different colours and textures that this one would bring as I am thinking of introducing some grey shades into my living room in the new year.

Hope you enjoyed reading my Christmas Wishlist.  If you have done a Christmas Wishlist yourself please leave the link in the comments box below, I would love to have a nosy at it!

What I Ate Wednesday No.56

Its been a few weeks since my last What I Wednesday post.  I have simply been super busy with preparing for Christmas etc but I am back with another instalment.

I thought I would try these Tesco Easy Oats which were chunky oats and barley, I can't say I am a fan though, its a bit too stodgy and lumpy for my liking.  I shall eat them up but won't be re-purchasing.  I topped it with dark chocolate chips and had my usual morning cuppa.

This consisted of a jar of Sharwoods Tikka with saag curry with Quorn chicken pieces added to it and served on a bed of Tilda rice (forget which flavour) with a Sharwoods garlic naan bread.  All washed down with a glass of water.

Half a tin of Heinz vegetable soup with half a wholemeal topped with a little Lurpak Light.  Drink = Glass of water.
