What I Love About The USA

I have been to the USA 4 times in total now, (albeit to only 2 different places, NYC and Florida).  After returning from Florida this month I felt the need to do a fun post about the little things I love about the USA.

Peanut Butter
I adore the USA's love of Peanut butter!  They have peanut butter everything; from peanut butter M&Ms, the whole Reeses shebang, PB&J (peanut butter & jelly (jam) sandwiches, to peanut butter cookies on offer in their Subway stores.

The waiters and waitresses are so friendly and eager to please.  They seem to work really hard for their tips in restaurants.  The food always seems to come out nice and quickly too; you never feel like you are left waiting for too long.

I share their love of pancakes - I enjoy american style or crepes.  I eat them all year round at home and at any time of day.  I had to try some pancakes in iHop (International House of Pancakes) whilst I was there.  I had a stack of 3 american pancakes and topped each one with a different sauce.  I so wish they had ihop restaurants in the UK!

Retail Prices
The clothes and electronics are usually a fair bit cheaper than the UK.  You can pick up some real bargains on designer clothes in the outlet stores.  I like the Bath & Body Works Stores and always have to venture into one whilst I am there and bring back some supplies.

It seems only fair to follow on with a post of what I miss about England whilst in the US...check back to Kads Life blog soon!

Feeling old at 28?

It happened all of a sudden and hit me in the face with a bang.

I recall it all started on my 28th Birthday...there I was brushing my teeth in front the bathroom mirror when something seemed to glisten in my brown fringe.  I paused my brushing and slowly leaned forward closer to the mirror.  My fear was then confirmed - it was my first grey hair.  What a great little Birthday surprise!

Since then I have started to look closer for signs of ageing or let's be honest outright scrutinise the skin on my face especially under my eyes.  I am sad to report there are definitely some fine lines appearing.  Cue me looking into anti ageing products!  I had a read of a few reviews and and kept my eye out for what was on offer.  I tried the No7 Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum last summer and found it made no difference, you can read my review here: No7 Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum review

Anti-ageing products
I am currently giving some Nivea anti ageing products a try.  I have the Nivea Q10 pore refining day cream, Nivea Q10 anti-wrinkle eye cream and Nivea pure and natural night cream.  I don't actually know if they are noticeably doing anything as yet, fingers crossed.  Although I do feel the night cream is too heavy for my skin, so I need to look for an alternative.

Hair dye
I am not planning on reaching for the hair dye just yet.  I really like my natural light brown hair colour.  In the summer it develops natural highlights from the sun.  I would be sad to dye it all one colour or keep having to go to the hairdresser for colouring and highlights to give my hair colour some dimension.

The sad thing is I still only feel about 21 (I'm sure others are the same?) and I have no children to blame the grey hairs on.  I can hear the biological clock ticking as I approach 30.  However,  One Born Every Minute and such like have put me off babies for the foreseeable.

Time passes so quickly!  Why do we have to age?  Why can't we just stay the same looks wise!

What are your concerns about ageing?  If you have any product recommendations please leave details in the comments below.

What I Ate Wednesday No.30

I had a stomach bug the day before this so just had whatever I fancied the following day.  I thought i'd play it safe to begin with and didn't have porridge for breakfast.

Piece of wholemeal farmhouse toast with butter and a glass of water (not pictured).

Jacobs multigrain crisp breads with Tesco 50% less fat cheddar cheese slices and ready salted Hula Hoops.  Glass of water.

I often forget to picture snacks and just include my main meals in these 'What I Ate Wednesday' posts but this is a very typical snack that I often have.  A cup of tea with a belgian chocolate Kallo rice cake.

2 potato waffles, Good Life bean burger (I recommend this brand of bean burger they are so tasty) and garden peas.  Usual glass of water.

What yummy things did you eat today?

Orlando, Florida - Holiday Itinerary

So I have just returned from 2 weeks in sunny Orlando, Florida.  There were 7 of us (4 adults, 3 teens) staying in a 4 bed villa with a pool on a complex.  For a group of people a villa usually works out cheaper than a few hotel rooms.

Our home for 2 weeks!

I know when you have not been to Florida before it can be daunting to work out what parks to do and just how much you can fit into 2 weeks.  I thought I would share with you a short summary of what we ended up getting up to on the 14 days we were in Florida this April - March 2015.  It does depend greatly on what time of year as to how busy the parks are.  Our trip clashed with USA Spring Break and UK half term so it was one of the busiest times.

The temperature was mostly in the mid to late 20's but it did creep up to 31c for a few days.

Thursday - Discovery Cove. Food inc.
Friday - Florida Mall shopping. Lunch in food court.
Saturday - Islands of Adventure. Lunch at Burger Digs in the Jurassic Park area.
Sunday - SeaWorld. Cool weather. 3 shows. Lunch in Mongo Joes.
Monday - Universal Studios. Lunch at Louies Italian.

Tuesday - Aquatica. Lunch at Waterhouse Grill.
Wednesday - Busch Gardens, Tampa.  Lunch at Crowne Plaza.
Thursday - Wet 'n' Wild.

Friday - Premium Outlets shopping centre.  Lunch in the food court.
In the evening City Walk to watch Furious 7 & meal at Universal Hard Rock Cafe.

The Worlds Largest!

Saturday - Wet 'n' Wild water park, lunch at IHOP (just across the road).  Universal Mardi Gras to watch All American Rejects perform.
Sunday - Busch Gardens, Tampa
Monday - Florida Mall & Posner Park shopping.
Tuesday - Universal Studios & Islands of adventure AM.  Played ball games in the villa pool.
Wednesday - Check out of villa at 10am and head to the airport ready to catch our flight that afternoon.
Thursday - Arrive back at Heathrow airport at 8am.  Arrive home at 12pm.

Window Seat with Wing View
As you can tell it was non-stop but that is exactly the way we like it!  It did go REALLY fast though.  In the evening we would generally have dinner at the villa, chill in the pool or watch a film after a full on day.  We visited all the Disney parks on a previous trip to Florida so we chose not to do those again this time around.

Hope you found this interesting or indeed useful if you are planning a trip in the future.

Post Holiday Blues

Okay so I am currently suffering with the dreaded post holiday blues!  I have had 13 working days off (19 calendar days). I return to my office job on Monday.  It is going to be one hell of a shock to the system getting up at 5:10am.  I have managed to conquer the jet lag over the past few nights so hopefully won't fall asleep upon reaching my desk.

I am dreading getting back into the same old routine, dreading opening my inbox and dreading trying to catch up with everything.

I am also aware that I have the doctors and the dentist next week - what a big slap back down to reality!

My partner deals with the post holiday blues by getting on the Internet and researching/dreaming about the next holiday.  Seems to work for him!  Maybe I should give it a try myself.

Wish me luck!
