Florida Holiday - Suitcase Packing

Hi everyone,

I am gradually packing my case for my upcoming Florida holiday now.  I thought I would share with you all some of the bits I have packed so far.  I obviously won't share every single item I have packed as this post would end up very long and very boring.

First up...swimwear.  I am taking the following 3 bikinis (I have added where they were purchased under individual photo's).  There is a pool at the villa and a couple water parks on the to do list.
F&F at Tesco (last season)
F&F at Tesco (recent purchase)
Jasper Conran halter top (old) with a new F&F at Tesco skirting bottom

Here are a few essentials that I have at the ready...
Abercrombie and Fitch bag, French Connection sunglasses (Boots), Soltan SPF30 face cream, Soltan SPF30 sun creams x2 & black gladiator sandals (from New Look a couple years ago).

Basic vest tops - Top 2 are Dotty P and the bottom 1 is F&F at Tesco
Butterfly skater dress (New Look) with lace backed cardigan (New Look)

Breton stripe top with gold button detail from H&M
For evenings out: Lipsy coral lacey top (bought last year)

So yeah there is a little insight into my packing so far!  Hope you enjoyed it.

Flares are Back!!

Woohoo!  I LOVE flares!  I have loved them since they were the height of fashion when I was in my teens.  I am so glad they are back, they are such a flattering style on any shape.

Would you believe I have never owned a pair of skinny jeans!  I know shocking right but even though I am slim I feel they just don't suit my body shape therefore I don't wear them.

Here is a run down of my top 5 pairs currently in stores:

Pair #1 - Next Couture Flares in blue/black.  They cost £28.00 are mid high-rise waist and have some stretch to them for comfort.

Pair #2 - ASOS Blend Flared Jean with Raw Edges.  I like the colour of these as it is a little different and interesting.  These are low-rise hipster styling and cost £39.99

Pair #3 - Very South Distressed Ripped Kickflare Jeans.  I like that these combine the 2 of the current jean trends as they are flare AND ripped.  The pale blue colour is nice lighter colour for spring.  They don't look majorly flared in the photos but seem a bargain for £23.00 in the sale.

Pair #4 - Topshop MOTO Clean-Cut Flared Jeans.  This pair are a dark blue/indigo which is slimming on the figure.  They are floor-skimming and 100% cotton.  These ones come in at £40.00.

Pair #5 - River Island Dark wash Alice kick flare jeans.  I feel this pair looks great with heels and maybe a smart top for a night out.  They are currently £25.00 in the sale.

Are you a fan of the flares trend?  I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

This is my own personal opinion and not sponsored in any way.

Recent Clothing Purchases - Spring/Summer Items

With a holiday to Florida fast approaching I have been picking up a few new items in the shops recently and decided to share some bits with you all.

Firstly I fancied getting a new bikini and I spotted this black one with coral flecks on the F&F Tesco site.  I bought the same bikini last year which was purple with white spots so I know it fits me like a glove (& I am fussy with bikinis) so I ordered it straight away.  I am very pleased with it and have popped it straight into my case.

It cost £8 for the halter bikini top and £6 For the bottoms.

I also got this navy Hollister T-shirt with flower detail in the sale for £7.99.  When I got home and tried it on the V neck came down a little lower than I was expecting but nothing too revealing.

I really struggle to find sunglasses which are comfy and that suit my face shape.  I tried on various different pairs and different brands and eventually settled on these brown French Connection ones.  They were £35 in Boots.

I love this breton stripe shirt with gold button detail on 1 shoulder.  It is from H&M and £7.99.  I thought it would look great with cropped trousers or jeans.

Lulu skinny cropped jeans for £25 from Red Herring at Debenhams.  I think these will be frequently worn on my florida trip as I am not a fan of wearing shorts so always opt for cropped trousers.

Check back soon for a Holiday Suitcase Packing post.

Is anyone else in the mood for Spring-Summer now?

What I Ate Wednesday No.26

Oat So Simple porridge topped with dark chocolate chips and a drizzle of maple syrup.  With the usual cuppa, always the same drink i'm afraid as I don't like coffee!

Pizza bread (toast topped with tomato puree, oregano and cheese (Anchor Light cheddar)), packet of salt and vinegar Squares and a Robinsons orange squash.

Chiquito's vegetarian 5 bean chilli chimichanga which also had refried beans, Texan style cheese sauce, melted cheese and mexican spiced rice inside the fried tortilla.  It came with a basket of chips (hiding beneath the chimichanga) and pots of salsa, sour cream and a avacado dip.
It all tasted so so good - I was really impressed as when I last went many years ago it was small portions and nothing special.  Boy have they turned it around with much larger portions and a whole new extensive menu!

Any Chquito fans out there?

What's in my handbag?

As the name suggests this is a 'Whats in my handbag?' post.  I love having a nose inside other peoples handbags so I thought it was only fair that I share mine in return.

My everyday handbag which I use during the working week is a black Fiorelli shoulder bag with a cobalt blue lining.

My purse is a lilac Radley one which was bought for me as a Christmas present by my partner a couple years back.

Some very old but fairly comfy Sony headphones (in front my purse), I sometimes use these at work in my lunch break to listen to music on my iPhone or listen to YouTube videos.

The anti bacterial gel and hand cream is from Bath & Body Works (from my recent NYC trip).  It is a Winter cranberry anti bac in a purple and lilac travel holder.

The 4head stick and neurofens are in case I get a headache or dreaded migraine.

The handcream is a 10ml L'Occitane Au Lait D'Amande.

I always have my trusted Palmers cocoa butter lip balm in my bag as I use it daily.

Wrigleys Extra chewing gum, they've been in there a while to be honest and are a little on the soft side - hehe.

My keys have a car fob, Florida keyring, the blue keyring is a bottle opener and a Stylfile emergency nail file keyring (the pink spiral) to prevent accidentally scratching delicate items in your bag.

A trust pack of Kleenex tissues - always come in handy!

If anyone has a 'Whats in you handbag?' post please post you link below!

Foodie Faves & Fails Vol. 2

I have discovered and tried a few different food items lately and I thought I would share my opinion of them with you all.

I picked up these Kallo rice cake thins when looking for an alternative to biscuits which I LOVE to have with a cup of tea.  Both flavours are really nice and if you are trying to be healthier the fruity muesli and yogurt ones are just 66 calories and the Belgian chocolate ones are 56 calories.  A newly found foodie fave!

I have been meaning to try whole grain rye bread for a while, I often see pics of it cropping up on Insta topped with a poached egg.  I tried a slice with some butter on with my minestrone was vile!  It did not taste anything like I thought it would.  I will not be purchasing it again thats for sure - FAIL!

I have seen nakd bars around for a while but had never tried them until now.  I picked up a selection pack so I got to try a few different flavours.  The cocoa orange was definitely my favourite.  It amazes me that these are 1 of my 5 a day!  They have become a new staple in my lunch box for work.

This has to be THE BEST peanut butter there is 100% peanuts, nothing added.  Some peanut butter makers add oil, trans fats, sugar, salt etc when it is just not necessary in my opinion, 100% peanuts makes for the best taste.  Meridian are UK based in the Welsh hills of Denbighshire.  It is also very reasonably priced, Tesco normally sell this version for £1.99 a jar, although it is currently on offer for £1.50 so I have stocked up.

I use peanut butter for various things including healthy protein energy balls, peanut butter bites topping for oat cakes or crackers and inside sandwiches.

Are any of these foods favourites of yours?

You can checkout out the previous post here: Foodie Faves & Fails Vol. 1

Recipe: Peanut Butter Bites

I am the first to admit that I am no baker.  I occasionally try to bake but more often than not it goes wrong in some way.

I recently baked some Peanut Butter Bites and to my surprise they actually turned out well.  So if I can do them, anyone can!

The recipe makes 8 little bites so it is ideal for 1 or 2 people. I would suggest doubling the ingredients if there are 3 or more people eating them.

8 tbsp Plain flour
2 tbsp Caster sugar
2 tbsp Smooth or crunchy peanut butter
50g Softened butter
1 free range egg yolk
Icing sugar for dusting

1. Preheat the oven to 180C.
2. Place the egg yolk, butter, flour, sugar and peanut butter into a bowl and give it a good mix.  It should combine into a smooth dough.
3. Lightly flour your hands, then break off 8 evenly sized pieces of the dough and roll into balls.
4. Place the dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper.  Next gently press each ball with the back of a fork to flatten slightly so they cook evenly.
5. Pop in the oven for 10 mins, or until just turning golden brown.  Keep your eye on them!
6. Once they are baked to perfection lightly dust with icing sugar and store in an airtight container.
Et voila!  I warn you these are so moreish you will need to exercise extreme willpower to not eat them all in one go!

Let me know in the comments below if you give these a go.
